The Fascination of Darkness
Two women, one fat and the other slim
knitting in complicity something like black days feverishly,
they. both, live in a world of their own, amidst the incomprehensible.
Dwell in a house in the City of the Dead facing the darkness.
They call them Death and Life respectively
The quick and indifferent placidity of their gaze troubled me,
they smiled at me as if at some funny joke.
Seeing them is like thinking about an enigma,
But now. there they are, before you
their faces like grotesque masks seem to tell you:
"Every year grows dim, grows cold, grows small and expires",
"Everything has passed unseen, in a sigh in a flash",
- Too soon -.
Now the light is definitely out.
No way to turn back from the Portals of the East.
The two women, one fat and the other slim
had charmed me.
They judged me
Man enough to face the darkness
