The Eyes of a Father

So we look back
We count the days, the nights, the weeks and months
Just one blur of emotion

Count the raindrops
And you count the memories
All raining from the same cloud

The eyes of Time himself

We build our homes
Then tear them down with the lives of our children
And put our tears away
In jars that we carry on our backs
Along with the stones in our hearts

And the only gateway to ourselves
Is through the eyes of Time himself
In the sigh of a father
In the smile of a lover
In a tear of the soul
