The Escort
O, Lord of grace, You hold us in Your arms holy,
and when the time comes for us to finally depart,
show us the light to traverse to eternity safely.
O, Lord of hope, from the tormented heart
flow out these humble words, for I bear
the agony of life from the strength You impart.
O, Lord of faith, You guide us with divine glare
across the tempestuous sea to the serene shore
to reside in the abode of peace in your care.
O, Lord of love You suffered for us to the core,
for the burden of the cross You carried slow,
You give fortitude that in pained minds we store.
O, Lord of joy, in life’s dark nights You glow
like the omnipresent unfading pole star we see,
the discovery of sanctity of soul to You we owe.
O, Lord of all, You escort us on the rough sea
to the gleamed horizon at end of our journey.
