The Elusive Handshake

Is it a wolf in sheep’s clothing?
No, it is a sheep in wolf’s clothing.

Is it a green snake in the grass?
No it is a green grass in the snake.

So they navigate the treacherous waters of politics
As we wait for them to find the elusive handshake.

But I ask, as the old man was asked not to go quickly
Was he also asked not to reach his destination?

Yes I agree with Lucilla, double talk runs rampant today...no values anymore. This poem highlighted that for me...good work. MC

In the olden days - people used to close a deal on a handshake and it was respected, now days to some people it don't mean much. Your last stanza says it all. some people say one thing, but mean another. Thanks for sharing.... Lucilla
