The Echo Returns Not

The sea was calm, the shore silent,
         No echoes resonated there,
      A walk along the ocean meant
To cleanse the soul and lay it bare;

As shadows lengthened, they strolled on,
      No feelings stirred, no words spoken,
         What they had before was now gone,
What was left was all that's broken;

No memories rang through the shore,
         No relationship left to care,
      They drifted apart more and more,
No love echo returned to share.

Precise and lovely forlorn language Jo. You are an inspiration to me. :)

On my entry for Seeker's contest, you said you were not inspired to write. I see you have and quite well, Joanna. Your lines are wonderful expressions of heartache. My kind of poetry ;-)
