The Drink

"Come to bed" she said. I don't want to go to bed It's empty. It's filled with only one body even though there are two. "Come to bed" she said. Her. I feel that I can't hold her the way she's meant to be held. The space between is a ravine. It is a cavernous void. The vast expanse is painful. "Come to bed" she said. No. I'm not tired. My mind yearns for the drink, so that I may yet again forget how empty it's become next to her "Come to bed" she said. If Only I could. I long to have that space between occupied by us again. Occupied by what we were, when we were. I whisper in her ear lying next to her. "Come to bed"
