The Drabness Of A Rainy Friday

Drabby Friday is quickly approaching, steady raindrops are unwelcoming; more cheerless than a fluttering robin finding refuge in the cathedral's spires that cannot reach the swollen clouds, I trod the wet cobbled streets of London! The heavy tread of my booths is not heard as they hit paddles, they squish if they had holes; not distant from me, a birch tree has fallen showing its dirty roots... in its branches buzzed the Honeybee! A harmonious sky incites joy, ever notice the boredom of a boy? I feel the same sadness he feels... when he won't smile at ladies resembling models on high heels, and the drabness of a rainy Friday stays... until rain tampers off and shows sunrays! Goodmorning, Anne-Lise. Thank you for your kind comment. I am glad that you like my winning poem. I have bee away from Poetry Soup. I return from time to time. I dedicate most of my time composing music to songs. Songwriting is more lucrative than poetry writing, but without promotion and investment, nothing will ever happen. I keep my fingers crossed hoping that a publisher will be interested in them. I was excited to hear from you. I have heard that all over Europe there's a deep freeze and more snow is coming. Stay warm and keep on writing your lovely poems. Hugs, Andrew.

I welcome you back and wish you and your family love, happiness and health. Stay warm and keep on writing and inspiring the members of Poetry Soup. You are one of my favorite poets. Enjoy your day. Kind Regards, Andrew.
