The Dove of Peace Trembles

Humanity groans and grinds away another day
      atrocities multiply, strongmen hold sway

The dove of peace trembles, her offspring dismembered
civilization's quiet hum no longer remembered

Could these, indeed, be mankind's final hours
O, let us turn to the Lord, make His Will ours

A powerful image in your title. Symbolic of how we are all trembling inside. Kudos, dear poet friend. SuZ

Dear Gershon, your poignant pen spills with heart-wrenching potency! Indeed, "the dove of peace trembles" and so do the innocents caught in the fire and bloodshed caused by "strongmen" who care not for the innocents but only for their own power at any and all cost! This piece is incredible moving, my friend. Your poem, and especially the last line, is a clarion call for a change of heart, mind and spirit to end man's inhumanity to man. Let's hope, pray, that it happens. Warmest wishes, dear poet.. ~Susan

Susan, how much do I owe you for this ringing endorsement. You can have 'your people' contact 'my people' at 1-800-pax-voce. ~ Blessing and bounty, Susan

Hi Gershon, such a sad truth. Man's inhumanity to man. You've written so masterfully of it. Praying for Israel and her people. Shalom.

Regina, keep praying. Pray hard and long. It's going to be a battle royale, I'm afraid. Thanks. ~ Gershon

Very well put; the second stanza paints quite the picture. Unfortunately, central banks and their cronies will tear peace to pieces as they drag their monopoly money system(debt, debt, and more debt) from one used up empire to the next in line.

I was kind of pleased with the second couplet as well, David. Thanks for pointing it out. ~ Gershon

This is the only prayer we can make. At a time of great atrocities when war weapons are wielded by opposing nations and everyone adamant on exterminating the enemy, no peace talks can work, but only God can intervene. A very thoughtful writing, dear Gershon. Let us pray !

Yes. There is a time for peace and a time for war. This is not the time for the former. First the butchers must be disarmed completely.

The dove of peace trembles, a very apt title, Gershon. We are not called human beings for nothing, I don't think that applies as much today with all the inhumane people that seem to be hell bent on ruining civilisation at any cost. perhaps we need to be punished for our bad management of the beautiful world that was giving to us as a gift from God "Love thy neighbour as thyself" X

Surely, He is the ultimate answer to all of our questions, doubts, concerns, and 'issues.' Thank you so much, BJ!

I agree with you, Heidi. I thought at age 12 that the Cuban Missile Crisis might be it... Then I thought in the 1970's and early '80's that we were close... But this time, WW3 is erupting, and that IS the sign. Let us lift up our voices that He may come now.

I hope God will intervene. Seems man is out of control. Your poem is a call that all should hear and act accordingly. Sadly it may be a while before all heed. Unsure why I feel that way I just think humans are hard headed. Great writing with a purpose. Love and light to you.

Karen, let us raise our voices and cry out to the One God Above to come now. He needs to hear from us, especially we who are still sane. (Like you and me. Anyone else? ... lol). Seriously, Gershon
