Notes About The Poem

The Door of Uncertainty

Blue ~ is the door of uncertainty,
carved with letters of lime green,
    with antique amulets
hung on sterling strings,
like teardrop dreamcatchers,
framing the anatomy
           of healing heartbeats.
And I am an aching epiphany~
an archived souvenir
             in rusted memories,
wrapped in the
           ice-caged clutch of angst,
soaked in shivering shimmers,
wishing and praying~
love would blindfold my soul
     with jasmine hymns,
lace my skin with lilac,
         as I still t r a c e
your face amidst twilight iris,
painting blurred visions
       with poetic tears ~
sprouting magnolia metaphors,
phasing moon’s spellbound sagas,
while pink is
the nocturnal night-lamp,
reflecting rosemary runes,
too fragrant for the mirrors that breathe
not beyond shallow floors,
and feel not the halcyon heat
         of diamond drapes...

O wallpaper wishes,
embossed with
glass wings of paradise,
I long to soar
beyond tethered thresholds,
where guilt is a myth
and darkness unlocks
a meadow of romanticized memoirs.
So unchain the heavy handles,
closeting misery in seclusions,
while dusk stretches
through blackout veils of gold,
  stroking purple pillows
bathed in unspoken sorrow.
For in the corners of soundless confusion,
I sing stars, weaving wild-petals
on the tip of trembling truth,
l o s t in the luminous light~
    l u r k i n g
and
    s w i r l i n g
         between
soft sighs of the sun
and velvety veins
               of swollen s i l e n c e.

Expressive and descriptive lines you have penned for the contest. It reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Do you remember from years ago the song, "Behind The Green Door"? Sara K

Such an exquisite poem, dearest Ink, on the intricacies of love, desire, and the collision of emotions like hope, sadness, and healing. The theme also dives into inner reflection, probing the intricacies of memory, desire, and the longing for connection in the face of mystery and sadness. The imagery of color (blue, green, pink) and natural elements (flowers, stars) emphasizes your sense of wonder. Your word choice in the poem is rich and evocative, with sensory details that paint vivid visions. Words like "uncertainty," "healing heartbeats," and "shimmering shimmers" add to the poem's emotional depth. The use of metaphors ("aching revelation," "magnolia metaphors") and similes ("like teardrop dreamcatchers") deepens the emotional trip. Furthermore, the poem uses personification, as evident in terms like "mirrors that breathe," to give life to inanimate objects, highlighting the emotional atmosphere.

"And I am an aching epiphany~ an archived souvenir in rusted memories, wrapped in the ice-caged clutch of angst," How better can one picturize the inner anguish and melancholy. You are the Empress of pathos. Your poem is nothing short of excellent. How can I dare to participate in a contest when entries of this level are there! But I must console myself, each one's style is different. One cannot vie with another. I am sure Edward will love it. All the Best.

Ink, I don't think any of us can bodily soar, but your lines certainly do go "beyond tethered thresholds," along the warm rays of sunrise, all through the night until the moon sleeps in her bower on one of your petaled pillows. Willowy words, Ink.
