The Distance of Time
Still
A hundred years from now
And it will all be over.
Even the ones left behind
To remember will be forgotten.
There will be nothing left of this existence.
The now will be lost to the past
Like a wave lost to the ocean.
Only the moon and the stars know the secret.
And the wisest of men
Shall perish beside the most fool-hardy.
For no one is immune
From the distance of time.
Not even love can conquer that one.
The Gods too,
They will falter in their falseness
And their flesh shall fall from the bone
Just as surely as life shall fall from death.
There is no escape.
No reprieve.
No mercy.
And the weight of the illusion
Grows heavier with every tick.
Still
A hundred years from now
And it will all be over…
