The Day My Life Went Crazy With Lowdown, Earthly Blues

The Day My Life Went Crazy with Lowdown Earthly Blues

The day my life went crazy - traffic such a mess;
Puppy ate my brand new shoes - cleaners lost my favorite vest;
My report so late – about three weeks - Boy, my boss steaming mad;
And, I think I contracted a case of lowdown earthly blues. Whacko!

Think I forgot my wallet – know I forgot my lunch;
Do I see it start to rain - umbrella at home – just a hunch;
Lost my keys, lost my pen - think I lost my mind.
Now I know I contracted a case of lowdown earthly blues. Whacko!

This day, oh Lord, just won’t end - everything now late;
And, I planned so carefully taking so much on my plate;
When the day finally ends thinking how I failed
Only then I remember you and your promise to give me grace
To handle low down earthly blues. Whacko!

Lord, where is that armor, you give to me
Sitting in some corner, gathering dust, you see;
If I keep trying to do this myself – if I forget about you,
I will spend all my days singin’ lowdown earthly blues. Whacko!

This poem is in no way an attempt to diminish the pain and sorrow of COVID 19. Or poke fun, or make light, at those suffering with this horrible disease. It is a memory of craziness in my life many years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with all who are infected with the disease, fighting to stay healthy and caring for the sick putting their own lives at risk.

Sam, I'll start strummin' my guitar if you'd be kind enough to sing your blues for me! Is the key of E too high? Congrats on your #1 win today.

Thanks John. Hope your "git-tar" is tuned. Key of "C" works. I would be caught stealing in "E." So appreciate your congratulations. I do love this song - think it is safely on base as so many have experienced this "rain delay" in their days.

So many thank you's for your blessings! As you can see from the poem, they are needed! Especially on one of those days. Think I'll go and dust off that armor now! Many blessings, prayers and hugs to you my friend.

Thanks John. Sometimes my armor gets a little dented, but it is always there - whew! Chasing too many ground balls with eyes.

Congratulations on your win. A day you should have stayed in bed. We all have had these kinds of days. I love where you say, "Lord, where is that armor, you give to me Sitting in some corner, gathering dust." The armor is there with the power for us to learn something from the day. Enjoy your win.........

Hi Paula, it seems some days are best spent with the covers pulled over our heads - but, then I do remember the armor - thank goodness. Aren't we lucky we all have that armor? Se you in the armory - mine seems to need a little adjustment! Thank you for your message. Blessings

Pulling the comforter over my head and only peeking out when hunger overwhelms my desire to hide! I agree Sandra! So glad you enjoyed it. Was hoping all of us relate! Thank you for your congratulations, continued encouragement and friendship.

Sam, do you sing this to the 12-bar blues? You've included so many vignettes I can relate to, and Murphy's Law of Umbrella Placement on Rainy Days. But you bring it nicely back around to seeking your heavenly armor of protection. Echoes of "In a Little While" by Amy Grant. Appreciated your compassionate postscript as well. Good luck in the Whacko contest with this exceptional lyrical write ~ John

Agreed! Why is it that often we remember those days and not all of the days filled with blessings! Just human I guess. Your message is so comforting. Thank you!
