The Day After

The day after I die The sun will rise And you must let it Though the desire may be to weep And pull the shades low And wear black sack cloth The day after I die The birds will sing And you must sing with them Though the song be short And the words stick in your throat And taste like ashes The day after I die The breeze will blow And you must move with it Though it be howling all around you And sucking the breath from your lungs And drying the inside of your mouth The day after I die The world will turn And you must let it Sunrises, Sunsets Sad songs, happy songs Gentle winds and gale force warnings The world will turn And so will you
