The Dance

We are experts at the dance of drawing near
And you lift your hand, as though my hand to touch;
I approach this lovely dance with lingering fear,
For I simply cannot swing into this trust.
You are expert at the dance of drawing near,
Yet I fear to take your hand, t'would be too much;
I slide away from the promise of this dance,
With fancy moves I memorize, then enhance.

Hi Deb. Beautiful words expressing fear of commitment. (I hope that I read right) The enhancement of longing with apprehension. of climbing high in case of falling. Wonderful. Eamon

Wow, I wrote a very similar poem, "What Is This Dance?" Deb. You captured my sentiments about misperceived actions by elusive partners so well. Awesome, my friend! Love, Carolyn
