Notes About The Poem

The Cycle of Life

The Cycle of Life I walk this golden path in fall’s cool breeze as autumn afternoon’s warm setting sun is shining brightly through the crimson trees, but growing shadows signal day is done. A bright array of leaves the autumn paints, her palette filled with amber, rust and red; she paints the vivid colors sans constraints throughout the hills and forests so widespread. And though the season’s colors bring us cheer, the falling leaves an omen for us all that old man winter surely must be near; upon these barren branches snow will fall. And thus the cycle of our lives proceeds and moves ahead till springtime sprouts her seeds.

The first one I read by you in kind return:) Beautiful! Fall of life! My first language is Russian and my verse is rather of common sense/humor that poetically deviced. So I truly admire yours. Will read more ??

Congratulations John! Your poem has placed "Third" in my PoetrySoup contest. Due to the exacting syllable counts and perfect rhyme requirements of this form, this contest was very tough to judge, well done my friend, Emile.

I wish I could write with so much vision and wonder. The older one gets the faster the cycle seems to rotate and the beauty appears to be even more apparent. Thank you. Shirley

Whether nature or human, we all go through a cycle of life - however, most of the vegetation of the world bounces back in Spring or Summer, we don't unfortunately and nor do animals (we have old man time) that stops our cycle. Loved this poem John. Hugs and blessings, Jenn.

Thank you, Jenn, very true what your say, we don't live on but our seed does through our descendants and thus the cycle of life continues. Have a great week my dear friend. Hugs, John

Thank you, Mo. I think your haiku and senryus say much more than my sonnets in much fewer words. Hugs, John
