The Contest

I wrote about words of life and how this can be healing
I really thought everyone would know what I was feeling

The NA was like giving a gift when there’s no smile
Maybe it was not my words, but it was in my style

I tried to write something that was not complicated
because some poems can leave you a bit suffocated

Maybe there's a reason my words of feelings got an NA today
I look to others how they wrote and what they had to say

I begin to realize that poetry is not always about emotion
Sometimes it's just about communicating with devotion

I learn what others have to say, and a little about themselves
This becomes a gift that's really teaching me about myself…
