The Colorado Man
He left the road, the hurried pace, the noise,
To find a truth the mountains hold inside,
Where ancient granite answers nature’s voice,
And freedom’s breath on every breeze does ride.
He felt the call, the primal, deep desire,
To shed the old and greet the mountain high,
To touch the sun, a burning, golden fire,
Beneath the vast, unending Colorado sky.
He saw the fire in the sky at night,
A meteor shower’s breathtaking display,
The stars like diamonds, shedding gentle light,
Chasing the world’s demanding cares away.
He heard the stream’s soft, whispering song, the pines’ low sigh,
A serenity that sinks into the soul,
And saw the eagles in their silent fly,
Making the wounded spirit strong and whole.
Now in this solitude, his heart takes wing,
He seeks the grace in every rock and tree,
A deeper wisdom that the mountains bring,
A sense of belonging, wild and truly free.
He understands the land’s enduring might,
And vows to guard this sacred, hallowed ground,
From those who’d dim its wonder, steal its light,
Where true, untroubled joy can still be found.
Oh, Colorado high, a feeling pure and grand,
A newborn soul, reborn in mountain air,
With heaven’s beauty held within his hand,
A Rocky Mountain High beyond compare.
