THE CLOTH THAT BINDS US

A cook never goes into the kitchen without wearing her apron. (quote by my Mother)

scent of hearth
stitched in morning light
apron’s cloth~
sewn with pride
fabric keeps the memories~
threads hold dreams of home

sturdy cloth
worn by gentle hands
drapes the waist
soft as lace~
each fold a prayerful whisper
faith sewn into seams

daily grace
inside apron’s seams
hands knead hope
truth rises
kitchen hearth, gentle chapel
apron lifts the soul

That’s lovely Sara and so is the apron. I sadly missed a full term of the first year in Senior school, due to being ill in hospital for three months. In that time my classmates had made themselves an apron to wear in the domestic science lesson. I had to wear one my mother bought for me… Beryl

thanks for sharing your apron experience, Beryl. How sad for you at the time. I still have many of Mother's aprons...they're priceless. Wishing you a great week, hugs, Sara
