The Child In the Painting

The canvas on the wall..
Careless strokes wake you up
Hues of a chaotic slumber..

Autumn has slipped by
Are you drenched in red?
Or do you see the horizon?

The balloon rises…
Out of vision… It soars slowly…
Maybe it is the dark veil..

You see nothing therefore
Or do you not feel amazed?
Where is your father, little one?

There you see the dim glow..
Heralding a red world
Patience in your eyes..

Or maybe you have grown old
Are you waiting for him?
Or do you not hope anymore?

Surreal darkness is bound..
Kept captive by the canvas
The branches tower over you..

Look at the rainbow
Is it not waiting for you?
Do you not see the sky?

There is a crack in the wood..
There is still hope… Maybe…
Soar across the sunset..

Into the islands of freedom
Do you know the path?
Or would you rest for a while?

There is music in noise..
Looking in the right direction
Light is eternal… As you are…

It is only lingering somewhere
Do you see her eyes?
You hear the laughter?

Wash off the pain..
Feel the grass under your feet
Soak in the myriad flowers..

Somewhere.. Where the colour ends…
Do you see yourself now?
Do you see your father, little one?
