Notes About The Poem

The Cemetery

So peaceful is the cemetery at the edge of the town Celtic crosses and grey headstones are everywhere Stood over some graves watchful angels look down Flowers so colourful and wreaths placed here and there At the resting place of loved ones by loved ones who care.

Cemeteries are places where souls peacefully rest. There is a solemn tranquility there. Sometimes the silence there, can be choking too.... ! Well written Tom.

Some cemeteries are peaceful to look and be there. One, is the Veterans cemetery when I go there for my visit. Then you have others like the one in the picture, it gives an air of foreboding; restless souls that might feel they shouldn't be there. Thank you, Tom, for the wonderful compliment on my poem last night. I never read the poem, " In Flanders Fields", so, I did today. It's so sad. Hugs Eve

Thank you Eve, your right, some of the older cemeteries are a bit spooky. I too wrote a remembrance poem The Red Poppy. We never forget our servicemen and women who keep us free and safe. Hope you're well, stay safe. Tom

It is a part of love that we honor our beloved that have passed on. Caring is a must and your poem gives us pause to remember the treasure that those no longer with us have given. Great presentation and great poetry my friend..

Something about remembering those whether family, friends or strangers, respecting the lives of those who go before us. Sadly many movies show us a horror show of a cemetery. But the truth is they can be peaceful and comforting.

Great poem, Tom. Like you said to Darlene.. It's funny how our mind can play tricks on us at night in the cemetery, yet in the daytime it can be a very peaceful place. Well done and Congrats on your win! Charlie

I think it helps to have a place to visit your loved one. To bring flowers or just quietly speak your thoughts to one so missed. Personalizing a gravestone with a photo also celebrates their life in such a personal way. I have seen this on older lovely gravestones and they are so touching. Congratulations on your wonderful second placement my friend. xxoo

"At the resting place of loved ones by loved ones who care." The epitome of beauty and depth! Great parts of our whole.. precious souls rest in peace in that place leaving a cold and a pain in our warm hearts.. so beautiful a work despite the ache it arouses.. blessed be Tom, my regards and blessings.
