The two walking canes lay close by
Next to the window seat
Waiting their turn to go outside
And maybe a stranger meet
Especially his walking cane
Loved to mingle and touch
Her walking cane lay close silent
His cane with strangers gushed
So different those two curved canes
Their length designed for each
The stain of hers, red
And his a plain pale beech
No longer walks upon soft sand
Nor strolling in the park
Mostly confined to sit down fun
Church meetings singing like a lark
