Notes About The Poem

The Call Guy Dedicated To Stephen Pennell

Steve works in a call center to earn an honest bob but some days he can't believe the words that flow from some folks gob They cus and curse Then eff and blind - you'd not believe your ears and if he wasn't made of sterner stuff he'd leave the room in tears! I said to him when folks are rude to remember the golden rule Just imagine them sitting in the nude that way you'll keep your cool! So when they rant and scream and shout He thinks of his meager pay but still tries his best to sort them out and ends the call with 'have a nice day'! Probably a good thing it's not me they're talking to. I'd tell them things about their family:) Funny poem, Jan. I really love reading your humor.

I just wrote this off the cuff in a soup mail to Stephen yesterday - not that we had discussed his job in detail at all, but I think it is quite apt. You'd definitely need a thick skin to do that job!:-) hugs Jan xx

That is a great poem Jan, people think they can easily be rude to someone they don't see standing in front of them, you see it on the Internet too, it's unbelievable.... Be a little friendly to your fellow human beings people!

Hi Jan, This is a good tribute to Stephen. Years ago I worked in a call center .I came come across some rude people. I must say it was a challenge because sometimes I wanted to get rude right back. However that wasn't very professional and speaking in a kind professional manner does work(not all the time). I agree with Tim, one does have to have thick skin:-) Alexis
