The Butterfly Emerges

From the dark cocoon, the butterfly emerges,
Finally realizing she cannot control her urges,
To witness the beauty of the midnight moon,
The butterfly emerges, from the dark cocoon.

She flew from the shadows, out into the daylight,
The colors on her wings had never shone so bright,
She was meant to be here, her brave heart knows,
Out into the daylight, she flew from the shadows.

No more sitting alone, back in her little room,
No more hiding in dampness, darkness and gloom,
She had finally found a friend to call her own,
Back in her little room, no more sitting alone.

Kelly, I loved the beauty and the idea of this one. I think if you had put in one more quatrain that let us know in what way the moon was the butterfly's friend, I would have scored this a tie for first!! thanks for using perfect rhyme. And congrats on your win.

Thank you so much for my placement, Andrea! I do appreciate your wonderful and encouraging comments. They really mean a lot! I was debating on how many quatrains to use, then I just decided to stay with three. But, I understand what you meant, I could have told more of the story with one more verse. I'm glad you enjoyed my poem, though! :)
