The Bubble of Make Believe
So many use books and movies
to escape the problems they face.
They surrender to imaginary pleasures,
forgetting to rejoin the human race.
They are entranced by spun fantasies,
woven for the brain's delight.
Each time reality slaps their face,
they choose fantasy as their sight.
The sweet sugar of imagination
takes them away from worldly pain.
But they refuse to feel the treasure
of reality's harsh stain.
Everyone lives happily ever after
in their bubble of make believe.
It's just a matter of time
until life shows them how to grieve.
