The Blackballed Poet...

They say my writings are weak and without meaning?

They say I will never be published, no not even overseas?

Nobody in the main stream wants to read about your Ghetto life...

Nobody in the main stream will ever buy your books...

The people that would read it, can’t even

afford to buy it... You’re just another blackballed poet!

(Reply)

I may be blackballed for life and nobody in

the main stream will ever read my books?

But, I’m a black writer and black life is what I write about...

I may never win the Pulitzer Prize? I don’t care!

I won’t compromise my writings just for a book sale...

Blackball me if you must; but I will still be a black poet... when all has been

said and done, I think you will all know this, a black poet is what I will still be even

in my death!
