The Armor of God
When coming face-to-face with the enemy,
Be sure to be equipped for the violent fray.
The proper armor is a necessity,
If you are to live to fight another day.
When the foe’s hot, deadly darts of fire are hurled,
None can pierce the spiritual armor worn.
The shield of faith and the sword, God’s word unfurled,
Will protect from evil’s mortal threat and scorn.
The strong armor of faith shields the believer.
It will not fail, though the battle will be fierce.
Stand firm and steadfast against the deceiver,
Be a faithful servant; God will provide rest.
Wear the belt of truth and salvation’s helmet,
The breastplate of righteousness around the waist,
And feet of zeal for the gospel add credit.
Outfits the Christian for a most sacred quest.
