The Apple a Pantoum
On this, the anniversary of my death
I am reminded of my horrible crime
For you see it was me who stole the apple
It had belonged to an angel with white wings
I am reminded of my horrible crime
In the moment, I imagined a free heart
It had belonged to an angel with white wings
My true crime was that of being as dark as night
In the moment, I imagined a free heart
It seems freedom came at the end of a rope
My true crime was that of being as dark as night
You see, our child was the blending of two worlds
It seems freedom came at the end of a rope
Yes, I knew one day they would both be with me
You see, our child was the blending of two worlds
All part of a plan to abolish slavery
Yes, I knew one day they would both be with me
For you see, it was me who stole the apple
All part of a plan to abolish slavery
On this, the anniversary of my death
I chose to challenge myself with a difficult form and to use all your word prompts.
