The Apology
Say you’re sorry...
It echos still.
Say you’re sorry
Or I’ll send you away.
Say you’re sorry
Or I’ll lock you in your room.
Say you’re sorry
For making me feel this way.
Say you’re sorry...
Her words with portent loomed.
And I was sorry
Each night and day.
And I said the words
Every which way,
Until I stopped
And realized it was me
Who deserved the apology.
