The Almighty Dollar

Wealth, status, fortune and fame
The finest cuisines known to mankind
Dreaming of the life you wish you could live
If only you had more of that almighty dollar

Sipping a drink on a private island
Surrounded by gorgeous people at your beck and call
Wouldn't it be something, wouldn't it be everything
If only you had more of that almighty dollar

The designer clothes, the designer cars
The mansion with too many rooms to count
You'd have the finest possessions money could buy
If only you had more of that almighty dollar

But ask yourself, next time you fantasize
When you find yourself wishing for fortune and fame
Once you have everything the almighty dollar can buy
Do you really have, anything at all?

Ah, well said, Avery. So sad that we put so much stock in material things. The simple life of simple means is best, I think.

Thank you! I have a sign by my door that reads "the best things in life aren't things" - good words to live by :)
