The Adventures of Hook and Loop
In a drawer where odd things quietly creep..
Lives a fastener that refuses to sleep.
Not buttons, nor zips, nor a buckle cliché..
But a scratchy-soft bond that won’t drift away.
Two halves in a dance, though strangers at first..
One bristles like secrets, one cushions the worst.
They meet with a whisper.. or sometimes a rip..
A cryptic embrace with a comical grip.
“Oh choose me!” cries Sticky, with adhesive delight..
“I cling to your plastics by morning or night!
Just give me a surface all polished and clean..
And I’ll hold like a gossip that’s rarely unseen.”
Sew-On just chuckles with thread in its teeth..
“I’m stitched into jackets… I’m fashion beneath.
Through fabrics I linger, through coats I persist..
A tailor’s odd trick that’s hard to resist.”
Then Heavy Duty stomps in, bold and profound..
“I stick in extremes where weak things fall down!
From freezing despair to a sun’s heated glare..
(-18 to 49).. I simply don’t care.”
Eco drifts softly, all leafy and wise..
“Thirty percent kinder,” it humbly implies.
“I fasten your conscience as much as your shoe..
A greener embrace still sticks just like glue.”
But heed now the riddle of timing and grace..
For strength blooms in silence.. give 247 space.
And warmth is preferred, not too cold, not too hot..
For that’s where the cling finds its firmest sweet spot.
A thousand embraces? Oh yes, and then more..
A grip that keeps coming back, just like before.
Yet sunlight, that trickster, will quietly fray..
The bond that once held things steadfast in play.
And should your old fastener weaken and tire..
Just clear out the fluff to rekindle its fire.
Take brush or a toothpick, restore what once clung..
Revive the old magic from when it was young.
So next time you hear that peculiar rrrip..
It’s not just a sound.. it’s a mischievous quip.
A laugh in the fibres, a fastening pun..
Where chaos meets order.. and somehow, they’re one.
At now comes the answer, it's time to reveal..
No longer a secret, not one to conceal.
Half science, half mischief… in one clever show.
The hook and the loop.. the sly spirit of Velcro.
