The Battle
A thousand eyes observed as he
Battled the forces within;
The age old war of good and evil,
Between righteousness and sin;
Free will, the gift of God to man
The Power that charts our Fate;
The ability to forgive and love,
Or to harbor malice and hate;
One man now stood within the scale
Balanced evenly on the beams;
Inside, one voice speaks words of good,
The other, hatred screams“Kill him!"
"He had first wronged you and
Only this will ease the grudge;”
"Remember what the Lord has said,
Judge not lest ye be judged;”
Who will he heed?What will he do?
The darkness hides his face;
But slowly, as his hand goes down
We get a sense of Grace;
Hallelujah! Heard from up above,
The angels’ voices chorus;
Tomorrow will be other sins,
But tonight,Score one for Us.
