The 27 Club
In my early teens, I discovered what I am now calling, "The 27 Club".
Being distinguished or great is not what qualified one for this club,
because among them were fishermen, a doctor, and a tax collector.
None were studied journalists, and one was the top church persecutor.
The persecutor, who was later converted, wrote 13 of the 27 books.
Moreover, I learned that it was a club of great writers, very inspired
writers I might add. Not everyone believed then nor now that they were
so inspired. But I believed it then and believe it even more now than then. Introduced early on to these most treasured historical and prophetic books
by my parents, my entire life has been built around the sacred recordings
of 'The 27 Club', and nothing in my life has influenced me more.
Reportedly, there are 9 authors of the 27 books, and one is of unknown origin.
Most of them were eye witnesses of the people, places, and things they wrote about. These authors drank from the same fountain and ate from the same source. They all had a common theme who was Christ, and He was their first and last message.
Clearly speaking of Jesus, The Gospel of John for example began with,
"In the beginning was The Word". Revelations ended with, "The grace of
the Lord Jesus Christ". Both of these books were written by the same author.
One of the most interesting facts about 'The 27 Club' is that the club's name was not centered around the authors but rather around the 27 Books of The New Testament.
So much more could be said of 'The 27 Club'; of its claim to be absolute truth;
of its endurance over time in the face of those who desired to rid it from the face of the earth. Although the authors were mere men, inspiration came from Almighty God.
