That's What Family Is For
That’s What Family Is For
(in the style of Sara Teasdale)
The sky bends low with longing sighs,
Clouds like weary hands unfold,
The rivers wind, with secrets told,
To the sea that cradles broken ties.
Beneath the foam, beneath the shore,
Whispers of love both soft and sore—
For that’s what family is for.
The sea, it weeps in silver tones,
Washing the ache of all we’ve known,
Yet in its depths, a hunger lies,
A pull that no one can disguise.
The rivers run, they bend and twist,
Bringing with them all we missed—
The quiet looks, the gentle hands,
The promises like shifting sands.
The sky above, the earth below,
They watch the tides that ebb and flow.
In the center of it all, a place,
Where rain meets earth in soft embrace,
Where hearts, though torn, still seek the shore—
For that’s what family is for.
