That For Which She Had Yearned

That For Which She’d Yearned She’d married young, then realized the fact her spouse was not the type of man to act with thoughtfulness toward her, and sometimes he would lose his temper, but unflaggingly she held her tongue and kept an even keel. Oblivious to how he made her feel, her husband threw abusive words. The wife was one who could forgive despite this strife. She daily prayed to God her husband’s soul would soften and her marriage be made whole. Faith and compassion she had plenty of, and so the wife gave all she could of love. She could have held resentment for his ways. Instead she was forgiving all her days. In time, the woman saw change take effect! Her spouse was showing HER love and respect. He opened up! Surprisingly, this spouse now brings her gifts and helps her with the house! Her constant kindness, love, and faith has turned her marriage into that for which she’d yearned! Beautiful write, my friend, and so much emotion and wisdom within ... ironic how life and experience can transform the most sure of things into surprises of growth and fulfillment. Blessings, Andrea - loved it! :-)

This poem is coincidental for me. My friend was describing to me just yesterday, how she transformed her difficult husband through softness. I was amazed because I could have never. I don't let anything go.

Nice tale! I am still looking for love. I have had plenty of girlfriends in my life but have always been afraid to "tie the knot" So at 62 I am alone. I am glad you liked my postcard poem - the show was very enjoyable. Peace &Love Matthew Anish

Wow, Andrea, I have a friend going through this same situation. She has given up hopes of changing him and I don’t expect he will either but I pray for her every day. I am happy that your life is closer to what you dreamed for. John

This is such a wonderful and lovely write my friend! The thing about this is that is exactly the way my grandparents were! By the time that I came into existence the man had started to become better, notice how I said started...he was still not the kindest man, and one that demanded her to work for money that she never saw until she got old and grey and couldn't use it anymore (and it went back to him after she died, sigh)! But he got better after she got sick! Just like your poem expressed! GW

It is great when that happens. Sadly, too often it does not. Good luck in the contest, Andrea.

I loved this, I have seen this happen with a few of my parents friends, it was surprising, but I found it beautiful as well. I am sure it doesn't happen often but when it does, warms the heart, great poem!

maybe not completely but it can happen to make someone very improved. Also I saw a movie today very inspiring true story about such a change . It is a wonderful movie called: Same Kind of Difference as Me.

Interesting spin on the contest theme, Andrea. As others have commented, it would be lovely if this happened, but - in the harsh light of reality - I'm afraid it''s unlikely *that* type of husband would be able to change.. Nice rhythm and flow, though - good luck with your entry! Kind regards, John.
