Thanksgiving Tanka

THANKSGIVING TANKA

first fall snow
what i’ve dreaded
all summer
august september and october
just flew right by

mid november snow
thanksgiving just three days away
christmas just a month
to hell with coffee
a shot of wild turkey

dear old mother
times are tough
no thanksgiving turkey
“go kill the chicken!”
she said with forced smile

thanksgiving dinner
so much to eat
i’m almost sick
but company wants a violin solo
deep burple

thanksgiving ham
no wings
no wishbone
I’m pissed
make drumsticks from knife and fork

This is so funny! Must have a turkey and wishbone for the kids to fight over!

I'm fine, but my computer has been in the shop for days and days. Hope you are well. Love, daver

Your wit and wry sense of humor are so apparent here. It's VERY good to have you back, daver. and yes, I remember your poem about the laced joint. well, that kind of thing should be what puts people in prison, not just a little innocent joint. haha
