Thanksgiving, 2013

Thanksgiving, 2013 Dr. James E. Martin ©November, 2013 Thanksgiving Day will be arriving soon. A day we all remember. A day of feasting and excited tunes That occurs toward the end of November. A question arises in the mind of a few As the focus, with intensity, seems to fade. What are we really trying to do? Are we gratitude trying to evade? Should thanksgiving not be more than once a year? What about the many other days? What are the sounds that we routinely hear? “Pass more potatoes down this way!” Do we really on this festive day Have time to offer a prayer of thanks? Have we allowed this tradition to simply pass away? Does it matter that it now nowhere ranks? Maybe it is time for us to basics return. Hopefully it is now not too late. Maybe there is here a lesson to learn And not face an undesirable fate.
