Thanks

I laughed even though I didn’t get it
I cried even though I wasn’t touched
I smiled simply because she smiled at me
I pretended to like his cooking a bit too much.

I agreed even though they were wrong
I said, “Glad to see you”, even though I was not
I clapped even though it wasn’t entertaining
I complimented her kid who was a real snot.

I listened to a horrible singer
I said I remembered a complete stranger
I blushed even though I wasn’t embarrassed
I showed fear when there was no real danger.

I guessed thirty-six when I knew she was fifty
I lost even though I could have won
I liked the present I didn’t have a use for
I took many when I didn’t even want one.

So I empathize with all of you readers
Who struggle with reading my poems
Pretending that they are real clever
When I know for a fact you are wrong.

I thank you for all of your compliments
Positive feedback and the high praise
Your lies, they mean so much to me
I’ll do the same for you one of these days.

If everyone said what they were really thinking, there would be a lot of angry and hurt people......it is an honor to read your poetry Joe (smiles)

Dear Joe I notice that you and I are pretty even in the contests. Often side by side, sometimes higher and sometimes lower. So I guess everything you said about yours you could say about mine. Congratulations on your 7th place tie with me. Love, Joyce

My name's Destiny and I really do love your poem whether you believe it or not...and I can relate I've wondered several times if they really wrote what they thought, but I figure I don't take the time to lie so why would they, right? Anyways...I love this poem and many of your others...I can tell it comes from the heart...Keep up the great work and I hope to read some more soon. -Destiny

Hello Joe nice to meet you. You can select Bio as the form for this poem as it is about you or Free Verse. If I tell you something about a poem of yours you can believe it because if I don't like it I won't leave a comment at all. Now that is not to say someone else won't love it. We all have our own feelings on poems we read. I loved this one. It made my day brighter. Please keep writing. Love, Carol

Haha I like this. Anyways, yeah this is easy to relate to sometimes I feel the same way but I'm not so sure all people here say things they don't mean, as I don't--not here anyways.
