Notes About The Poem

Thank You, Thanks

Many, many years ago I was given a wonderful gift,
it is very precious and I will consider it a treasure forever;
            it was a Lifetime Membership for Poetry Soup,
imagine my joy and my gratitude at this anonymous present.

      I can tell you-   that it has changed me in fathomless ways,
with this gift I have learned how to write my poetry;
            this is the best writing school ever and I am growing,
this anonymous person knew that I had potential.

      Writing in the sand thank you is just not enough,
writing in the sky is nothing for my gratitude is so great;
            the only way I can repay this selfless act is to give,
and to grow as a poet and show that this gift was not wasted.

      I will admit to you that in time, I knew my benefactor,
this angel who now resides above-  a true angel;
            one day we will meet at Heaven's golden gateway,
and then I can hug her and kiss her and say thank you, thanks

                            for changing my life . . .
