Tethered
I see you laying there all forlorn
Slightly damaged and all alone
I kneel down beside you
Scrutinizing all your scars
I make you a solemn promise
To help you the best I can
Once I get you tethered
We start our little dance
You slowly make your way to me
Causing me to smile
You come to a stop
Once you’re on solid ground
I remove the chains that bind us
Allowing you to be free
Grateful that your owner
Didn’t hit that tree.
*That’s what it feels like to recover a car from the ditch.
