Terrified By Children

Lester’s parents decided to homeschool him. Mommy and Daddy had both been bullied when they were kids. Kids are horrible, they told Lester. We will not have any other kids, so you can be bully-free. Lester was glad they were his parents. They took care of him in all ways. Feeding him, clothing him, cleaning him. Best of all, he never saw another child for long. A kid! His mother would scream. She and his daddy would throw him behind the couch. One or the other would lay on him, to keep him safe. He became terrified when he saw a kid now. This went on for years and years. He did not learn to ride a bike or roller skate. He did not know what an amusement park or any park was. They kept him in the dark, well-hidden. He has read about socialization now but has no idea what to do. His parents are gone, and he has never had a bike, a car or a friend. His groceries get delivered. He is on his own without any idea what to do. Luckily he died of a heart attack when a kid came to ask if they could mow.

I am so happy you liked it! I know a child who was hysterical about maybe being stung by a bee. He was ten and had never been stung, but every time his grandma (who raised him) saw a bee she threw him to the ground and jumped on him to protect him. I wish I WAS making this up.

Wow, talk about dysfunctional! Poor kid never had a chance...and it was all at his parents' doing.

This is so sad. I recall Deborah was absolutely opposed to home schooling for most of those reasons. Still, I have two grand-nieces who have never set foot in a school and both are highly successful. So, I suppose a lot depends on the child.

I have a great friend who has a grandson that is 19 - has never ridden a bike or driven a car or been in a school; his parents home schooled him "because they were bullied".
