Tendai - be thankful to God

Concealed within a wistful smile a mother’s tender tears fall softly as the dawn appears again, across an alien land, so distant from the soothing comfort of family and familiar things. And yet, her sometimes tired eyes will twinkle oft with mischief and delight and unexpected laughter. Tendai’s caring role she sees within the common plight of suffering humanity, with words of comfort, hope and reassurance. At testing times of tribulation, a shining light, her kindly eyes, bring easeful consolation and the possibility of dreams come true.

Peter, I'll tell you what came to my mind while reading your poem with its Buddhist (?) title - a carer. A carer who lives a long way from home. A carer who cares for others while missing her own family. A person who, through her words and facial expressions breathes hope and radiates warmth in testing times of tribulation. I may be wrong. For me poetry is not just about totally understanding what is in front of me but 'feeling' the sentiment behind it. And I feel this. Cheers - Gary

Gary, so good to have your comments. You are 100% accurate in your interpretation. Tendai is a real carer, from Zimbabwe, one of a team who have been visiting me at home since my recent hospitalisation.I am so pleased you feel and therefore we share the sentiments I’ve expressed.
