Tell My Heart

Please tell my heart to love a little less
It’s strength of love not quickly to confess
Please tell me heart to measure the amount
Of love allowed to flow out from its fount 

Safeguard my love; on heart’s door cast a spell
To make it strong and quick the gush to quell
The wave of passion, teach it to subdue
So as to match what other lovers do

My heart is heavy with the weight it bears
So sick of caring when none other cares
Command my wanton heart to be demure
Inject a dose of apathy….it’s cure

For if my heart in loving knows no bound
It’s bound to break and put me underground

There is always that breaking point where we realize that we have invested too much of our soul and being into another, or others in general and we have to pull back before we break.
