Tell My Heart

Please tell my heart to love a little less
It’s strength of love not quickly to confess
Please tell me heart to measure the amount
Of love allowed to flow out from its fount

Safeguard my love; on heart’s door cast a spell
To make it strong and quick the gush to quell
The wave of passion, teach it to subdue
So as to match what other lovers do

My heart is heavy with the weight it bears
So sick of caring when none other cares
Command my wanton heart to be demure
Inject a dose of apathy….it’s cure

For if my heart in loving knows no bound
It’s bound to break and put me underground

Oh...dear sweet SUNSHINE! You've come to shine on me today...Thanks for the visit. Yes....I know I can't change the way I feel or my heart. I just wish I knew better how to protect it. I feel very deeply Anne Lise...and am very sensitive. I hurt easily and carry pain deep...I wish I could be stronger....I do, because at times...it makes me not want to go on. But, when I'm feeling better, I'm thankful for the way I am and sorry for people who can't feel the intensity of love like I do. Thanks for your sweet and generous loving remarks.

I'm pleased as well. Let her know to read from the beginning to get the most out of the book. If her family in Kelowna would like a book have them drop in and introduce themselves to me at BMW. It would be cool to meet them. Thanks again for making my day month and year. Hugs Rick

We do have Canada on our TO DO list. My brother-in-law lives in Vancouver...We will see. It would be surreal. Perhaps you could be brave and come over to this part of the world....You won't regret it. Yes...a meeting could be arranged. I'll let you know when they are there next...

I would be so honoured to meet them. Perhaps one day you will come to Kelowna. It would be so fantastic to spend time with you in person. I am also thrilled that my book is resonating with you.

Actually, my brother and Kristelle were just saying that it would be great to be able to meet you.... :) They go there for furlough.....I'd been so green with envy, though, for them to get to meet you and not ME. Yes, I'm that silly and might not even tell them how to reach you. I'm not so willing to share. You are part of MY world, but oh well....I'll try. HA HA! Will keep in touch about that. Yes, I will tell her....You really have a depth in the book, Richard, that amazes me. Your insights...bring me healing.

Hi, Richard...thanks for this lovely greeting. Yes, it was a sunny day though I'm feeling a bit under the weather. Got a bad cough. Oh well, BTW...gave Kristelle the present yesterday with the poem tucked inside. I wrapped it up all pretty. She read the poem and said, "How sweet.....I'm going to cry." She LOVED IT. My brother was also very impressed that you would do that for her. Thank you! :) I'm pleased!!!!

I won't tell you to love a little less, or match what other lovers do, your boundless love I'm sure is tied to your muse and that makes you a geat creator of poetry. Take care, Richard

Mr Seal....so good of you to visit. It warms my heart no end. :) So....let's see...you're saying my love needs to be boundless.....hmmmmmm....boundless ocean in a world of rivers and lakes that are.....hemmed in. Doesn't seem quite fair, does it? I'd love to dive and swim in a boundless ocean myself....Hmmm..It's only fair, I think. At least these troubles bring out the poetry, so...for that I am grateful. Hugs

I'm impressed though there is no contest. The words they touched from the first lines my soul. You write with that thing with which I myself would write. My angelic muse who knows poetry well. I could go pages on. But I'll only you the seal of my highest approval. JOHN HENRY LOVING III

Today was an introduction about who you are...and about the book. I shared some of the stories....but did not read them. I wanted them to understand....how you got to where you are now....The power of words....and how they must try to better their skills at writing...because they can touch lives...I shared this in two classes....I will read excerpts soon. :) Yes..Your influence is not just on your side of the world. You've touched my students today...

Great poetry but I hope you never heed these words as it would be a great loss to all who love you. How can you subdue a brilliant storm or stop the sun from shining upon the earth. You my dear are a magnificent force of nature.

I had their full attention....I do admit...It made me very emotional to share some of the stories. What a treasure it is to have. I then was so happy to read the note you'd left for me...One of my students didn't believe that the AUTHOR...is friends with me and would write such a nice tribute. It made my day...

Richard...you are very kind to say that, but....this poem is from my heart. I do wish my heart would listen. It is unruly and often gives me pain. Anyway...thanks for the lovely post. It is very kind of you. Very kind. BTW...it would please you to know I took the book to class today and shared YOUR story...the importance of WORDS. My students were captivated...

Eloquent poetry, you describe what it is like when we care too much. There is always that breaking point where we realize that we have invested too much of our soul and being into another, or others in general and we have to pull back before we break. I love your diction throughout, and it creates vibrant imagery. Thanks for sharing.

Tim...this is a very encouraging post. I am ever so grateful. I'm glad you can understand where I'm coming from on this. Yes, at some point...you need to heed that warning and pull back. It's called self-preservation. Loved your latest. Would like to read more sometime.
