Notes About The Poem

Tell Me Saint Michael

When someone says, "(S)he's a saint",
I think of peace and restraint,
but when it's time for battle paint,
tell me, Saint Michael,
must we hide from sight?

Truth and justice, we must protect -
those things, both good and correct.
So, I ask, with all respect,
tell me, Saint Michael,
sometimes, must we fight?

And what to do if Man divides -
sometimes there are at least two sides.
As to where the truth resides,
tell me, Saint Michael,
who decides what's right?

O, for some Solomonic wisdom, so lacking these days...

I always loved that story about dividing a child equally - what a stroke of genius, albeit a little concerning!

The last question is such a pertinent question- Who decides what or who is right! ? Enjoyed the humor.
