Teetering On the Gates of Hell

Teetering on the Gates of Hell Having balanced upon the Gates of Hell and fallen back into joy, Resurrected from degeneration and despair only to stumble Where voluptuous prowess exerts an enticing allure…false satisfaction. Eternity forever captured with one last lunge…devouring hope. And the soul remains chained, forever…to the ever-welcoming Gates of Hell. © Dane Ann Smith-Johnsen February 28, 2010 Poetic form: Free Verse Please use the link below to see the “Digital Painting” that inspired this poem. http://daneann.redbubble.com/sets/74185/works/3331360-2-hells-gate

A powerful write, Dane Ann! Every once in a while, like the "moth to a flame", we come close, but for His mercy and forgiveness, we are brought backby a power-not on our own. Sometimes I marvel at our God!! Why wouldn't anyone love Him, and I tear up! Great job, Dane Ann! Blessed Sunday! Peace and love, Audrey

The painting is well worth looking at, we are all chained to these gates in one way or another. The skill of self forgivness is one that is lacking in this world, fooled by the illusion of duality we believe that we do others harm, but really we only do ourselves harm, and then refuse to let go. We shall only judge ourselves when the time comes, and when we forgive ourselves we forgive everyone, as all is one. Much love to you Dane
