~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I felt the darkness growing wild,
Flooding my thoughts with doubt and despair
I felt the shadows start to invite,
My heart was burning with fear and pain.
I felt the light fading – so dim
Pouring out worry and depression
I felt the music diminishing, silence beginning
My heart was a distant ache, hope vanishing.
I felt the wonder disappearing like a vapor
Stilling my mind so my life wasn’t graceful
I felt the song of my soul walk away from me,
My heart was filled with doubt and anguish.
I felt all these things – the fears and the tears
Rising to shame inside my heart where I knew
I felt like I’d lost the way to real truth –
Then God sought my heart, reminding me…
He is there – always alive and always near
Willing to lend His light, His everlasting life
Willing to lead me home, where He is known
As the joy and the hope, the love that ensures…
Wherever I go, whether day or night
He is there with me, a friend forever – leading the way
So I know what it means to be free from pain
Free from all the fear – because He takes away the shame and guilt,
Shows me how to live for Him,
The One who takes away all my sin
And gives me hope that I’ll one day live in heaven, with Him!
