Tears
The heart said to the eyes:
“Cry less—why do you weep,
When it's me that suffers, not you.”
The eyes replied to the heart:
“Stop overthinking—
You get depressed;
But it’s me that sheds the tears.”
The heart then said to the eyes:
“Stop dreaming golden dreams,
Why spill tears at each flash of memory?
It is my chest that melts with each tear.”
The eyes answered the heart:
“Stop weaving loneliness into your days,
Let go the anxiety of longing—
You’re lost in love,
But I am left waiting in restless time.”
The heart sighed to the eyes:
“Why drown in boundless sorrow?
You can’t cry these dry tears,
And I can’t even think what else to feel.”
The eyes returned to the heart:
“Why do not tears fall in moments of joy?
Because you forget all your grief then,
But I—have never learned to weep with delight.”
