TEACHING
Teaching is when a kid eventually
Smiles and says “Oh yeah, I see.”
And you push a little more
Till she’s through another door.
Teaching is sticking with a faller
Till he learns to walk taller -
Holding the rope so he can climb
And reach up for the very first time.
Teaching is lesson-showing
To a hopeless-seeming kid,
And she surprises by grasping something
That you yourself never did.
