Taking Some Time Off

Dear friends, If you have noticed I haven't been commenting lately. My brother volunteered to go to Guantanamo Bay being part of Homeland Security. He several days before leaving purchased a house. Where he bought the property was called the Tughill area known for horrible winter storms of 4 to five feet of snow sometimes taking place in several days. New York had a horrible winter this year and the later part of last year. Well when he left three days later to Cuba to guard Ruthless Gangs from different nations. New York got hit with severe storms of continuous snow and where he bought his home was devastated. Nine homes in his region had their roofs collapsed, from the incredible snow load. So there is good news and there is bad news. The bad news is that he pretty much lost his home to the devastating weather but the good news is, that if he did not go on this military mission he would have probably been killed from the roof collapsing on him. I wish you can see the pictures it was like a Tornado hit the house. He lives four hours from me. So I take off and work several days at a time to help him build his house back. I thank God that I have build a lot of homes for Habitat for Humanity and learned how to do just about everything in house building. So pretty much him and I are working to make things right. I will be taking time off from the Soup instead of writing to everyone individually I thought it would be easier to do it this way. I will miss you guys and gals and I will definitely catch up when I am finished with building his home back. Stay safe out there, thank God everyday you are alive, and enjoy writing away. God bless you all and Asta La Vista my dear friends... Michael

Michael, I am heartbroken for your brother and the loss of his home. But, as you say, he was not in the house when the roof collapsed and God has provided your skill and knowledge in construction. What a blessing you are. Looking forward to having you back in the soup! Sending you blessings for a glorious Easter! Looking forward to doing laps with you in the soup again.

Dear Sam thank you for your much appreciated comment. In a way it is exciting to make something that is destroyed new. My brother is fun to work with. He tries hard but there is so much you need to know when building he likes to start something but there is an order you have to follow. For example he wanted to start building walls and he didn't know that your bottom plate needs to be pressure treated and before building a wall you have to make a cross measurement to make sure you are square, so many little bits of information so he is learning. Thank you Sam for your support and encouraging words. God bless you and Hugs...

Sorry to hear that your brother's house roof got crashed down by the terrible snow storm. Also so glad to hear that he escaped the calamity. Indeed what you are doing now for your brother deserves great appreciation. Helping him in his time of need is much more needed than replying to comments or making comments. Michael, you are truly an adorable human being. May the repair works progress and the house be reinstated at the earliest. My prayers for both of you.

Karen you touched my heart with your loving words. Thank you Dear I will try and work safely. Sometimes you have to work at a quick pace to get everything done. /Sometimes it is exhausting. The temperature fluctuate between 25 degrees f to 50 depending on the day. To be honest with you I do not mind the work I have always worked my whole life it is the long drive sitting in a car for four hours at a time going back and forth. I also have physical challenges but the cold will keep my feet from burning. That is what I suffer from. The cold actually makes them feel normal, other than that I am good to go. I have been preparing mentally for everything that has to be done and in what order. Sometimes life is like an uphill battle and you can't wait to come down the mountain. eight or nine other homes had their roofs fail because of the snow load. Some folks were injured.

So far it is me and my brother all our friend live too far away from where he bought this house in the country beautiful area with streams, lakes and rivers. he lives near NYS protected forest. He has a ton of Deer on his property. The area is near Pulaski New York. It is Amish Country they drive by in their buggy's and leave us little presents from their horses lol. Great people hardworking and honest. I really do not have a clue weather permitting how long this project of ours will be finished. I would keep commenting on the Soup but there is not internet where he is. His property is North of Oneida lake about twenty miles between Pulaski and Oswego. You would do the same Gershon for your brother or sister that is what family does. Thank you for the nice words my friend my extended family here is always so supportive. God bless you my friend and hopefully we will get this done by the end of summer. Time will tell lol. See you soon...

Had to buy Milwalkee framing Gun, new generator, now I am working on a materials list.

Hi Darlene yes I am so grateful he wasn't in that house when the roof collapsed. There were nine homes in the area that roofs collapsed around him and some of the home owners were taken to the hospital I do not know their status but I hope and pray they get through and make it. You never know what life is going to deal you. I am so glad he was away when it happened it saved his life perhaps. I you saw the pictures you wouldn't believe the damage the roof did caving in from the snow load. Hope you are doing well Dear will see you hopefully in several months. stay well and God bless you...

Take care, buddy. When you’re finished building your brother’s house pop down to Australia and help me with mine. I’ve got a few projects on the go but I’m a jack of all trades, master of none!

We have to clear all the debris which is half a house. Build and frame walls for a 26 by 32 space, put new rafters on the walls, plywood a shell for roof and walls surrounding, put siding on, put new windows and doors, plumb in new bathroom, built bathroom from scratch do all the drywall and finishing, put in new kitchen, have an electrician rewire everything, also when he bought the house Keith his garage had a first floor so we have to pour in concrete and finish the floor., we also have to put in new floor in the house. Life deals you lemons you make lemonade lol. Keith he bought this house at an auction it needed lots of work paid 30000 cash for it but now it going to cost if we do most of the work about 35000.00 to get it back new...Now you know how I am spending my Spring and Summer lol. Stay well my friend thank you for your much appreciated words they mean a lot, and God bless you Keith and all you love... Cheers my friend...

Keith I would love too. I could go visit help you out and go see Maria and Ron wouldn't that be great? I know you are very capable but I would love to help. If I wasn't afraid of flying I would consider it for sure. truth be told Keith I am not a master of any of them either lol. A lot of times I depend on a YouTube video there is so much to know in the trades I always brush up on anything I do. I helped build about 10 homes, plumbed and framed about twenty bathrooms from scratch, my brother helped. I have helped family and friends on many projects. I love working and building and seeing the finish project. I am always learning something new. I just hope this roof doesn't take forever I am 4 hours away and than four hours back usually stay four days.

Thank you Tom for your kindness. God bless you. Yes it was all surreal. He my brother Gaston works for Homeland Security and he volunteered to go to Guantanamo during President Trumps sending military troops there and private security to deal with the border nightmare that has brought in ruthless murdering gangs, rapist, and children traffickers. They are sent to Guantanamo Bay to be shipped out back to their countries and are held there until their deployment to their country. Hopefully this project isn't more than a month... See ya soon Tommy.
