Taking a Toll
Weeping incessantly
Teardrops kissing the winds
The panged heart does throb again…
Where are the pleasantries?
Who has taken its joy?
Sadly colored portraits, blues…
Dreary is the pained soul,
That has no hand to hold…
Sparks of joy, must soon return
I am as a lost child
In a land of soulless strangers,
Just a dreamer seeking a dream…
My angst is cloaked,
Within puffs of smoke--
A heart grieves, pained…
Distress is calling my name–
Oh that I could soar once more
Yet, I have no wings to fly.
I’d dare dream of pleasantries
Nesting high in clear blue skies
