Tickets went on sale to see Gary Barlow A well loved singer, it will be a sell out show My hubby was 1600th in the on-line queue There were no tickets left when he got through I went on the Internet to see if any were for sale Yipee, I found a ticket, but my face went pale The face value of the ticket was £163 pounds but the price they were asking it just astounds It was five times the cost of the original ticket Such intense profiteering, it just isn’t cricket! Title is a play on words – Gary Barlow was a member of a group called ‘take that’ The venue only holds around 2,000 people so ticket demand was very high and it sold out very quickly. Poetic licence used – hubby didn’t bother staying on line to get the tickets as he knew it would be sold out * a British phrase - if behaviour is not cricket, it is not honest or moral 10-21-17

Nicely worded, I've stopped even trying to get tickets for big names, its controlled by greed and corruption and it definitely isn't Cricket, Kind regards Jan as always, Kevin x

Thanks Kevin - I think people who don't live on the Island are going to get a wake up call as the gig is at practice week at TT and the cost of travel is astronomical and accommodation is as rare as tickets at face value lol. We seldom get major acts over here but we did get tickets for a gig Elton did in a huge tent in Noble's park, we also saw the kaiser chiefs ( got free tickets as our friend's son went to school with them) The next gig we are going to is a local lad Davy Knowles who will be over from his home in Chicago and then its Human league next year. :-) hugs Jan xx

If not mistaken, Take That are still active, though once again without Robbie Williams. Ticket touts make lots of money, especially out of music and sports. Often their prices amount to 'robbery'! Hugs // paul

You probably know more than me Paul! All i know is Gary Barlow is doing a solo tour and the tickets sold out so quickly. It's like daylight 'robbery' and such a shame the touts profiteer but i suppose its supply and they demand a high ransom fee for the tickets:-( hugs jan xx

This is cleverly written expressing how some opportunists take advantage. I hope he can't find a buyer too. : )

nice one, jan! it is amazing how much they mark up these tickets for - and even crazier is the fact that so many people are willing to pay those prices!

It is such a shame that people profiteer at the expense of those less fortunate and to see the amount they are trying to charge is shameful - I hope no one buys the ticket and they are left out of pocket:-( hugs jan xx

You are better off going to watch a local musician...way too much unless you can sit on your porch and watch

So true Tim... I used to live (about a mile away) from a major music venue in the UK and one day when Springsteen was playing I could not only hear the music but the walls were vibrating. It was the only time I can ever remember hearing a concert lol:-) hugs jan xx

I've not heard of Gary Barlow. Ticket scalpers are a dastardly lot.

He was in a group called 'take that' and now he is a solo artist. We are not great fans but it is rare for a major artist to come to the Island:-) hugs Jan xx

I can take it! I'm tough:-) Wow, I learned a bunch of Brit'isms. Thanks for the lesson. Well, I guess hubby can spend his bucks on CD's or MP3 downloads or, (I forget, they're making them again) VINYL records. Better yet, take Jan out to dinner and steal the sounds of his favorite singer off the net. Did I just say that? CHEERIOS and chicken wings! oh, and hugskies ~ j

lol John, I don't mind folks making a profit but they are preying on those people desperate to see a major star on the Island, there were advanced sales of 4 tickets to some people who 'purchased his book' so the amount of tickets available were reduced. We are not big fans, just thought it would be a good night out ... we could have a banquet at the cost of one ticket alone lol. One hotel does have occasional tribute nights we would get a meal and 'entertainment' for £35 each (I use the term 'entertainment' loosely as we saw a terrible Michael Buble act once that was more like karaoke lol) hugs jan xx
