Symphony Orchestra

SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA There’s a player up there stomach resting on his chair blowing air through at least a hundred feet of twisted golden tubing and A man putting oil on a slide makes toothy talk aside to a skinny tuba player (imagine a tuba player being skinny) who takes the fat horn on his lap Drummers four all stand Testing skins and whatnot with their hands The first selection using such collection? NOISY indeed! Then there are the winds All in a row with chimneys on the end sucking for dear life it would seem the flutist (or is it flautist?) is a dream Finally the violins adjusting gadgets rooting with their chins cellos (big violins) screw into the floor basses (huge violins) as a rule sit astool Here comes a fiddler late must have had a heavy date of all the nerve he turns and bows then sits that’s more than law allows for Here comes the conductor with a stick!

wonderful write .. my daily flavor from Daver luv.. did u hear about the construction worker in NYC who entertains his surrounding neighbors with singing Frank Sinatra all day long? he was on the news today and he is terrific ..he does this to drown down the noise of the construction in that area and people are loving it.. wow.. all kinds of wonders ...luv..

This is great and unique Daver. I usually love reading your words on orchestras and symphonies. This one faked me out but I was still right there and liked it all the more. This is one of your masterpieces as far as putting the reader in the first row. Into my favs.

Oh Daver, they'd better behave themselves when the conductor is holding "a stick"!:) Sounds like all is almost ready for the maestro. You weren't the "fiddler late", were you? Hmmm...:) This piece leaves one with expectant anticipation. I'm almost sitting on the edge of my seat! Well done, Daver...ENCORE! Best to you and yours, Love, Mikki

The atmosphere is so very real. Sitting and listening to the orchestra warming up, noisy, discordant. Very cleverly written. really enjoyed rereading this one. Well done. xoxo

this is a very clever idea, an orchestra warming up. PEFECT, Daver!! and thanks for the fun comments on Chris frogley (they called him frog legs, he was so tall and thin)! He became a chiro, like his dad, I heard and married with also a huge family. (so at least I escaped THAT fate. hahaha) Luv, Andrea (ps. I could stand a rich man though!!)

LOL I'd hate to be that fiddler seeing the conductor approaching with a stick. Like the way you compare all the string instruments to violins (but I would expect that from a violinist). You had me laughing out loud with the verse about the skinny tuba player, Daver. All the ones I've seen were rather large. Very much enjoyed your symphony in poetry! Love, Carolyn
